According to Joyce S0lt,.. coordinates the Citizen of the Month" program, stu-dents are selected based on their citizen-ship in the classroom. They are those who demonstrate that they are trying to be obedient and that they care about others. They are recognized as an example of courtesy and to encourage other students to be courteous toward others. Teaching Children Joy' ) concepts to be discussed Teaching Children Joy, a preschool concept where mothers take H turns as teachers will be discussed at a meeting Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. a the Story Book I Nursery, 40 West 300 . North, Orem. 8 Mrs. Nola DeJong Sullivan will be the featured guest speaker j at Wednesday's meet- - ing. She has done extensive work with handicapped children 21 therapy and has some "joy" concepts to m share. She is a delightf-ul lady and will be well worth coming to hear. The public is invited to attend. TCJ is based upon a best selling book of the same title, by Linda and Richard Eyre. This is the third year for TCJ and it continues to get bigger and better. Each month parents receive a "package" containing lesson plans, a newsletter, a music tape and a discussion tape. Dues are $4 per month. Each lesson is a combination of stories, games, etc., that teach children a principal of joy. Grove extravaganza The Community Education ext-ravaganza will be held ' Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in ii Pleasant Grove Junior l: High School auditorium. This event will be held jj' in connection with J national Community Education Day and National Education 1 Week, li' The Pleasant Grove 4 Junior High School Band will be performing a major portion of the program as an orien-tation for an elementary band program that will start in January. Other performances will be by current Community Education classes including tap dancing, sign language, Spanish for family fun, and others. Many classes will be represented by display before and after the live performances. All are invited to come. |
