Little Acorns Defeated By Stingers In Play Off Neal Chadwick, pitching for The Stingers, shut out the Little Acorns, in the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days fast-pitc- h softball tournament. The game was a dog-eat-d- affair, with both pitchers shutting down the opposing batsmen until the top of the fifth inning. Jim Fowler sent a nice hit between the first and second basemen and then crossed home plate on a boomer by Randy Hoover and an error on the throw. Hoover went to second on a hit by Calton and another throwing error. Jackie Young bunted successfully and the bases were loaded. Newman flied out and Mitchell grounded to second to end the threat and the scoring for the game. Larry Sheriff of Little Acorns flied out, Larry Larsen grounded to second and Jon Hoover was out on a grounder to the third baseman. The Stingers were retired in order and the game was in the bottom of the sixth still 0 Stingers. Little Acorns Bale, Grant and Nuttall went down by virtue of Chadwick's arm and in turn, Butch Dunn, pitcher for Little Acorns, stopped the Stingers again. In the bottom of the seventh, Valgardson wafted one to center field and ended up on first base. Cloward struck out and Lonnie Gleave hit into a fantastic double play executed by Jackie Young. Young's heroics gave The Stingers the game and a chance to beat Tingeys out for the championship. In an earlier inning, Chadwick bounced a homer over the left field fence but Johnny Bale fell over the fence, knocking it down, but coming up with the ball in another Jack Ar-mstrong catch. Little Acorns represented Co-Ci- ty League at the Nationals two years ago but haven't beaten the Stingers this year. l.tWlllMMMMm IM IHiK IM11 tfr tlfi nWMiMi Muni HIH ' ' LehTCity Public Notices Notice To Water Users Charles Wood, Star Rt, Box 17, Lehi, UT has filed with the State Engineer Appl.
