Show County Music Competition The second annual Utah County vocal and instrumental competi-' competi-' tion will be staged ! again this year as part G of the Utah County Fair August 18, 19 20, and 21. It was announced today by . Jacob Bos of Provo, ' well-known musician I and chairman of the " contest. The contest is open to residents of j Utah County only. H Tryouts to determine I the winners will be held prior to the fair, and ' winners will perform J during three days of the j fair. The audition ! schedule is as follows: Piano - August 17, E-400, HFAC, BYU at 6-10 p.m. ! Vocal - August 17, j Choral Room, Provo , High, 6-10 p.m. String - August 18, Choral Room, Provo High, 6-10 p.m. Brass and Per-j Per-j mission - August 17 Band Room, Provo High, 7-9 p.m. Organ - August 17 Seventh Day Adventist Chapel, 7 - 9 p.m. Woodwinds -August 18 - Council Chambers, City Bldg, 7 - 9 p.m. Competition will be held in nine categories: Male vocal, Female vocal, Organ, Piano, Orchestral wind instrument instru-ment Orchestral string instrument, other (harp, classical guitar, etc.), Vocal ensemble of not more than five voices, instrumental ensemble of not more than five instruments and piano ensemble. Winners will perform at the Utah County Fair as follows: third prize winners in each category, August 19; second prize winners, August 20; and first place competitors, August 21. Entry blanks must be secured from the Utah County Fair Office at 160 East Center, 101 in Provo and the newspaper offices in American Fork and Spanish Fork. |
