Bezzants Celebrate 50th Anniversary The children of Floyd and Virginia Bezzant will honor their parents on the occasion of their 50th wedding an-niversary in conjunction with Floyd's 81st bir-thday. The event will be held Friday, July 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the new church house in lower Lindon at 700 West 100 South. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. They request no gifts, please. Floyd and Virginia were married July 29, 1932 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, May 1, 1952. Floyd Bezzant was born July 28, 1901 in Lindon to Samuel and Harriet Charlotte Wright Bezzant. He attended school in Lindon. He is a retired farmer, having raised dairy and beef cattle. He worked for the Utah-Idah- o Sugar Co. He was also a county road supervisor. Virginia worked as a department and grocery store clerk, housewife and mother. Always active in county and community politics, they were on the beautification committee and the fair board. They ran the ward stand and one year brought a circus to Lindon as a fund raiser. Floyd was an officer in the original Pleasant Grove Riding Club and was instrumental in buying the rodeo grounds. Floyd holds the office of Seventy in the LDS Church. He was ward librarian for many years and was in the Sunday School presidency. He helped with many ball teams in his younger days. Virginia has been active in all organizations of the church, most recently the Relief Society. She is a temple worker. These days they are usually at home to friends and family where they enjoy gardening. Virginia enjoys her handiwork and sewing. They have five living children: Joyce Fowles, Sandy; Mrs. James C. (Merl) Cullimore, Orem; Mrs. Royce D. (Fae) Branning, North Chicago, 111.; Nile Bezzant, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Douglas J. (LaRee) Squire, Moab; 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. J Adult Driver Training vi The driver training ' course for adults who have never driven ( before or who do not now have a driver's license will begin f Monday, Aug 2, at Utah Technical College at j Provo. ' Utah law now requires that an ap- - proved driver education course be taken before initial issuance of a driver's license. The f' Utah Tech course fills this requirement. h The course will begin and registration take place at 5:30 that evening in the driver training portion of the college, located '' just inside the west entrance to the south wing on the Provo campus. The classes will meet daily 5:30 - 7:30 Monday through Thursday. This will enable completion of classwork by the end of the month. Tuition is $79 for the course, which utilizes the latest and most thorough techniques of driver training, in-cluding simulated driving in the electroni-c- mechanical at the college. County Music Competition The second annual Utah County vocal and instrumental competi-- ' tion will be staged again this year as part G of the Utah County Fair August 18, 19 20, and 21. It was announced today by Jacob Bos of Provo, ' musician and chairman of the contest. The contest is open to residents of j Utah County only. H Tryouts to determine I the winners will be held prior to the fair, and ' winners will perform during three days of the j fair. The audition schedule is as follows: Piano - August 17, HFAC, BYU at p.m. Vocal - August 17, j Choral Room, Provo High, 0 p.m. String - August 18, Choral Room, Provo High, 0 p.m. Brass and Per-- j mission - August 17 Band Room, Provo High, 9 p.m. Organ - August 17 Seventh Day Adventist Chapel, 7 - 9 p.m. Woodwinds --August 18 - Council Chambers, City Bldg, 7 - 9 p.m. Competition will be held in nine categories: Male vocal, Female vocal, Organ, Piano, Orchestral wind instru-ment Orchestral string instrument, other (harp, classical guitar, etc.), Vocal ensemble of not more than five voices, instrumental ensemble of not more than five instruments and piano ensemble. Winners will perform at the Utah County Fair as follows: third prize winners in each category, August 19; second prize winners, August 20; and first place competitors, August 21. Entry blanks must be secured from the Utah County Fair Office at 160 East Center, 101 in Provo and the newspaper offices in American Fork and Spanish Fork.
