Show AF Pageant of the Arts to Perform Nutcracker II has been almosl 90 years since "The Nutcracker," lhal funny little man wilh the big wooden jaw, made his debut al the Maryinski Theater in St. Petersburt, Russia. Since then he has danced his way around the world and into the hearts of millions. Finally, this Christmas, he will arrive in our own valley lo dance wilh our own dancers! On December 26, 28, 29, ; and 30 the Utah Youth Ballet, resident ballet company of the Utah Pageant of the Arts, will perform this most delightful Christmas fantasy in its entirety al the American Fork High School Theater. "The Nutcracker" is without question, the most popular story ballet in Ihe world today. Like Santa Claus and Mistletoe, this enchanting story of a little nutcracker doll which comes lo life and transforms into a handsome prince has become a staple of Christmas in America. It will be the largest performing arts production ever presented by the Utah Pageant of the Arts. Under the direction of Jacqueline P. Colledge, the Utah Youth Ballet . will unravel the mystery and magic that the great Tchaikovsky wove into this popular ballet so many Christmas Eves ago. They'll all be there; Marie and the Nutcracker Nut-cracker Prince, the Mouse King and the Toy Soldiers, the growing Christmas Tree, the Dancing Doll and Bear, Snowflakes, Waltzing Flowers and the Sugar Plum Fairy. They will conjure visions of Christmas past, present and future. Produced by David Brockbank of the Utah Pageant of the Arts, wilh costumes by Sarah Price and music by the Provo High School Symphony, "The Nutcracker" Nut-cracker" is a Christmas treat for the whole family.
