Show Local Cabinetmaker Designs Indoor Play Equipment Fun Furniture, a division of Stillman Cabinets in American Fork, has opened with fun indoor furniture for children. Chuck Stillman, an accomplished cabinet maker and owner of Stillman Cabinets, said that the idea came quite accidently for his new business. He said that he built an indoor play center for his own children to play on when they came to the shop to visit him. He said that so many people tried to buy the center, that he drew up plans for one that could easily be set up in ten minutes. "This allows parents or grandparents to set up the sturdy center in minutes, and to store when not in use," observed Stillman. The center is composed of a slide (laminated with counter-top vinyl), a playhouse, and a platform where children can even take a nap! "Any screwdriver can easily be used to put the center together, you can even use a dime," said Stillman. The manufacturing of the children's furniture will not be limited to the centers. Stillman is now designing bunk beds that look like castles and forts, tables and chairs that resemble animal characters. He said that he will also be making rocking furniture for children. All of the furniture is made of sturdy fiberboard. Stillman said that the fiberboard is both economical and extremely strong. He sells the kits both unpainled and painted. He uses a lacquer paint that he said is highly resistant to scratches. scrat-ches. Stillman invites anyone interested in the center to come to his shop and showroom at 560 West Main in American Fork - and have their children or grandchildren try the centers out. .... His prices are $113 "unfinished (unpainled), and $149.50 finished (painted). He welcomes inquiries at 756-7385 or 768-8342 days or evenings. He said that he has some centers ready for sale right now, and will lake orders for them up until December 20. He will also deliver free anywhere in Utah County. |
