Show Recreation Guide, May 21, 1981 Page 26 Lehi Roundup Rated As Top Cowboy Show Wherever you go around Utah you will hear good things about the Lehi annual Roundup. It will take place again this year on June 25, 26 and 27. This fast-pace- d rodeo draws visitors from all over Utah. It is approved by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association whose top-rate- d members will be con-testants. Flying U Rodeo Company, the producer, will provide some of the nation's toughest outlaw horses and brahma bulls, fastest and williest calves and the meanest steers. Specialty acts will feature Robin Sindorf, famous Texas girl bullfighter and Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Advance sale of reserved and general admission tickets has already begun. They are available from Dale Ekins, 162 Main Street, Lehi (768-3108- ). All children younger than 11 will be admitted free Thursday, June 25 when accompanied by an adult. First event of the three-da- y program will be the stock parade through town ' beginning at 7 p.m. Thur sday, June 25, culminating ' at the arena at 1st North and 5th West. Each show on Friday and Saturday evenings is also preceded by a parade starting at 6 p.m. Grand entry at the arena will be at 8 p.m. From then until the last event three hours later, Lehi Roundup is an exciting spectacle, the action fast and furious every time the chute opens. Events are bareback, riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, bull riding and barrel racing. The community cooperates with sidewalk sales downtown ' and a program sponsored by the Lehi Recreation Depart-ment. The City of Fun carnival will provide amusement for the three days also. Lehi Roundup is spon-sored by the Lehi Civic Improvement Association, founded in 1941. Lynn "Snook" Lewis is president, LaVere Downs, vice president and Don Peet, secretary-treasure- r. The new Parkway River provides river side developments along an 8V2 mile corridor between 1700 South in Salt Lake City and the Davis County' line. A new IV4 mile jogging course also parallels the river at 1700 South. Price and Helper - In downtown Price there's the preiiistoric museum in City Hall, and a mining museum at City Kail in downtown Helper. 2. Nine Mile Canyon (on Highway 53) - a stagecoach and freight route and center of the Fremont Indian culture of about 1000 A.D. Deserted log cabins, Indian petroglyphs and pictographs abound in the area. 3. Green River --- An historic river crossing and oasis of the desert. Famous for Green River melons and for being the outfitting point for Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. 4. Goblin Valley State Park (Temple Mountain Jet.) - A weird collection of sandstone gnomes and gargoyles lurk above visitors to this secluded valley. 5. Hondoo Arch - Wild, rugged, awesome redrock arch formed in the shape of a cowboy's lariat. Be sure and check local road con-ditions. 6. San Rafael Swell - An immense, hollowed out dome with vivid buttes, gorges and canyons. Much of this area is unexplored. V. Assembly Hall and Windowblind Peaks - Two massive landmarks. Win-dowblind is the largest free-standing monolith in Utah. 8. Buckhorn Draw -- Ancient Indian drawings on the canyon walls date back over 1,000 years.
