' " 5 - , . - - " -v Vxi 1 .4 , i; lit: - 1 While there are many, many within an hour's drive of Utah Valley, here is a glide to 53 recreation sites Hal fall within the bounds of Ulah County. The selection ranges from small, intimate 'campgrounds to large, sites suitable for family reunions and other gatherings. Some are j Icnicking only, others 1)1 ft overnight or sum-Wlon- g stays; still other are particularly suited for the elderly and the hand-icapped. All are designed by some governmental body as recreation sites, thereby offering facilities of some kind or another. For site use, fees and reservation requirements differ from place to place, Irom agency to agenc- y- so users are cautioned to consult the sponsoring agency for specif ic details. Generally speaking, however, the following is useful. In the Uinta National ' forest there is no charge for picknicking. A $2 overnight is charged per familycar in all areas (Bryants Fork is $1). In four areas -- ; Cottonwood, Hawthorne, jttle Valley, and Three is no fee. For reservations for large 6fup use there is a $10 fee ,ff every 50 people, except Granite Flats where the fee is $20 per 50 people. In Utah State Park system there is a $1 fee for pic-nicking, a $2 fee for over-night camping, except at Pine Creek where the fee is $3 for camping. Utah County facilities are free for individual and family use. There will be a fee for group reservations, that fee is $5-$- Vivian Park, at the mouth of South Fork in Provo Canyon is designed for use by the elderly and the han-dicapped. The other two County Parks are also planned for such use but to a lesser degree. Call the Utah County Parks and Recreation Division for information. Kelley's Grove (sponsored by Springville City) charges ts a $1 fee for use of the park. Overnight use is limited to vehicles. Group rates are $10 for 75 people and below, $20 above that number. Reservations are necessary. In the Uinta Forest, two campgrounds are being phased out and one has had overnight stays added. Mineral Spring and Coal Mine, located between Hawthorne and Three Forks, are no longer being maintained.
