Show k Baseball Season Ends With Honors The PGHS baseball season closed Monday night with the annual -.' baseball awards banquet. I Coach Jon Hoover had praise for his Seven senior players and for the team ; in general. "We didn't have anyone who really stood out more than anyone else but - we played as a team," Hoover said. ! The coach added that in the Most Z Valuable Player voting, "seven guys ; got one or more votes." ; Named MVP was catcher Paul Phelon with Craig Swapp named as the outstanding Pitcher. The award of Mister Hustle went to Cam Tolman and the Most Consistent Player was Doug Hooley. The teams Most Improved Player award was given to Karl Rutledge and Hall Gillman was named Outstanding Out-standing Fielder. Rutledge also received the Best Hitter Award. Steve Warner was selected as the Most Improved junior on the team. Coach Hoover called his seniors (the six named above and leftfielder Eldon Palmer) "seven gentlemen, seven competitors and seven guys who will continue to succeed." "No one picked us to win the Region but we did it because we worked harder than anyone else did," stated the Viking coach. Hoover also had praise for his assistant coach, Alan Bahr, as the guy "that did all the unseen things that have to be done to make a program go." P.G. finished the season with a 13-7 record and the Region championship. |
