Show Our Native State Exciting Place Time to plan your summer vacation is now. As you will discover by reading this edition there is more "what to do and where to go" in Utah than you will be able to ac-i ac-i complish in one season. You will have to be selective. A good place to start is with the local scene. American Fork, Lehi, Pleasant Grove and Orem conduct extensive, year round programs. There are many interesting recreation events and facilities in the rest of the county. i Elsewhere in the state you have your choice of 43 state parks, beaches, reserves, re-serves, recreation areas, museums and historical monuments consisting of 61,200 acres of land, more than a million mil-lion acres of boating and water-related areas. The system provides approximately 810 individual campsites and other group facilities. Twenty-one of these parks are right for boaters, being situated on rivers, lakes or reservoirs. Facilities include concrete launching ramps, docks, parking for towing vehicles and boat trailers, as well as campsites camp-sites with restrooms. Fifteen of them offer mooring and parking for boaters who wish to leave their craft for extended periods . Utah's terrain is replete with excellent motorbike, snowmobile, four-wheeler and dune-buggy riding areas adjacent to or originating from state parks. Utah has five national parks, one recreation area and seven monuments within its boundaries. boun-daries. Utah is a paradise for archeologists and paleontologists. Among the more prominent "digs" is Anazazai Indian Village at Boulder. These, "ancient ones" probably lived there from A.D. 1050 to 1200 and were the largest concentration of the tribe west of Colorado. A good way not only to see Utah but also to enjoy its varied customs is to attend community com-munity celebrations. Nearly every town stages some sort of a "doings" during summer sum-mer and autumn. You'd better get started on this year's planning soon. There is enough "where to go and what to do" in Utah to last you a decade. You can have a great time staying at home too.
