BRAD GREENWOOD puts finishing touches to carpeting being laid at the Lehi Civic Center. The facility will soon be ready for use by senior citizens. Senior Citizens Use Old LDS Chapel Thanks to the hard work and generosity of a number of Lehi citizens, a portion of the Lehi Civic Center, the old LDS Fifth Ward Chapel, will soon be ready to be put into use by Lehi Senior Citizens. The North wing basement, in-cluding the Relief Society room, the multi-purpos- e are and the kitchen have been completely cleaned, painted and recarpeted, and the counter area in the kitchen has been finished with new formica. Under the direction of Councilman Joe Shelton, citizens were asked to donate time and labor for the effort. However, most of the work fell to member of the City Council and city employees, with Ken, Dennis and Brad Greenwood doing the painting and putting in the new carpeting with the help of Reg Christensen. The Greenwood boys were also able to obtain the carpet for the city. Others who helped with the work were Vaudiss Manson, who was the only senior citizen who volunteered to help, Ken Peck installed the formica. The donated labor has made it possible for the city to hold costs under $1,800. As time progresses, the entire building will be redone and as was recommended by Julian Mercer in the last mayor's race. City offices will be moved to the city center, and the entire Memorial Building will be used for a new and expanded library, said Joe Shelton. The Lehi Ninth Ward MIA also donated labor for having used the building last October for a spook alley. The Senior Citizens will be using the facility for their noon meal and other functions.
