Show Utah Mink Show Underway The Utah Mink Show is now underway at the Salt Palace, according to Junior and Lynn Degelbeck, general chairmen of the event. The show "began Wednesday, Jan. 7, and runs through Friday, Jan. 9, and is free to the public. There are 26 classes of mink shown, Mrs. Degelbeck said, with the trophies given to mink owners for top entries. . "The owners are given points for each mink they place in the judging," Mrs. Degelbeck explained, with four high point trophies given to the four ranchers who have the most culminative points." Mink ranching adds much to the economy of Utah, and is the state's third largest industry. Although mink items are thought of as luxury items, they are becoming affordable and are a "good buy" for the money, it was noted. |
