GBMifcMf Police Seek Diamond Tennies A suspect wearing tennis shoes containing a diamond pattern in the middle of the sole is being sought in connection with two burglaries at the Crescent Ridge condos Feb. 5. William Owens of Ogden, Utah and Dr. Louis Novak of Cleveland Heights, Ohio reported their units were broken into that night with $340 in cash taken from Novak s unit. Although Owen's unit had been ransacked, nothing was reported missing. Investigating officers concluded both units were entered through a second floor patio door that was either left unlocked by the occupants or skillfully unlocked by the burglar. In both cases the distinctive footprint was found around the units and by the patio door. Resort Burglary A purse and cash valued at $50 were stolen from Jill Lenz's car Feb. 1 while it was parked at the Park City Ski Area. Burglars broke a rear window to enter the vehicle. Swift Thieves While Joe Chamberlain made a brief stop at Silver King Bank's Main St. office Feb. 2, swift thieves removed a $200 Toro snowblower from his pickup. The snowthrower was owned by Park City Reservations. Juveniles Cited Three juveniles were cited for attempted theft at Park Avenue's 7-Eleven store Feb. 2. The trio was caught by store employee Betty Howes as they tried to leave the store without paying for three pair of work gloves valued at $9.99 each. Additionally, Howes told investigating officers she had no idea how many hotdogs the three had eaten in the store other than those they had actually paid for. Wrestling Sound Effects Officers were called to Main Street's Imperial Hotel Feb. 3 to investigate a report of "strange noises." At the scene officers heard the noises themselves and reported they sounded like "someone was getting beaten up." When they discovered the source of the racket, two tenants admitted they had been "wrestling" but said they were not fighting. Burglars Use Key Ski boots, cash, tee-shirts and ski pins were taken during a Feb. 4 burglary at David Clark Dodd's Snowflower condo. The missing items were valued at $450. Officers could find no signs of forced entry and believe a key may have been used to get in. At first it appeared the burglars had tried to take the television because the cord had been cut. Later they concluded the thieves may have only wanted the cord to tie up the stolen goods. Caught in the Act Mickey Smith phoned the police this week and said he had seen two male suspects remove a pair of skis from his neighbor's porch on Uppr Norfolk. A short time later, officers apprehended a West Valley City youth with the skis. The suspect was booked into the county jail and his friend was cited for illegal consumption of alcohol. Coins Clinched Karyl Georgio reported a burglary at Village Gifts on the resort plaza Feb. 5. Georgio said $8 in quarters and $2 in dimes were missing from the store's register when she appeared for work that morning. She added the door was found unlocked when she arrived. Selective Burglers Burglars got into Judy Malouf's car, parked at the Deer Valley lot Feb. 5, taking her purse and $300 in cash. Other wallets, jewelry, a fur coat and stereo were left behind. Officers could find no signs of forced entry upon inspection ot the vehicle. Jewels Vanish Saphire and gold jewelry valued at $500 was reported lifted Feb. 5 at Karlynn's Holiday Village boutique. Salesperson Carrie Boesch said she showed a customer the jewels then was called away to attend to another patron. When she returned the first customer was gone and so were the jewels. Bulbs Broken Shadow Ridge Hotel employee Dave Herrick reported at least 35 lightbulbs had been broken on the third and fourth floors of the hotel Feb. 6. The bulbs were valued at $100. |
