Show Softball trios get set Over the Line softball enthusiasts enthu-siasts should be aware of the Aug. 9 registration deadline for the annual event, to be held Aug. 10-11. Mike Osher of the Park City Recreation Department reminded potential participants the absolute abso-lute deadline will be 5 p.m. Registration will be limited to the first 28 teams. Teams consist of three people two men and one woman. The object of this unique game, first popularized in San Diego more than 30 years ago, is to hit a softball past a line drawn 20 feet in front of the batter. Each hit past the line represents repre-sents a single and each successive hit advances the person on base accordingly. A batter can hit a homerun if he knocks it over the head of the deepest fielder, who stands about 100 feet from home plate'. Any ball landing short of the 20-foot line is an automatic hit. A batter's own teammate serves as pitcher. Entry fee for the tournament is $30 a team and includes a T-shirt. |
