Why not do it with music during the KPCW summer pledge drive, July 29 through Aug. 2? Park City's volunteer radio station is offering the usual premium goodies for pledges. But the station is making a special offer next week. Make a pledge of at least $20 and you can dedicate a song to someone over the radio. Want to let your boss know' how , much you think of him? Tell him to "Take This Job and Shove It." Send a romantic message with "Let's Get Physical," dedicate Carly Simon's "You're so Vain" to that self-absorbed self-absorbed acquaintance. Romantic messages can be sent anonymously, said Susan Finegan, . KPCW development director. But you have to reveal yourself for political andor libelous messages. For other sentiments, the station will set the rules on a case-by-case basis. The pledge drive offers two different premium deals. A list of f goodies will be offered for specific prices. For $125, you can choose from Piute Creek Outfitters' famous steak ride for a couple, or enjoy a Rainbow Weekend at the International Inter-national Hilton in Salt Lake or choose from two other premiums. At the other end of the spectrum, a pledge of $20 will net you two tickets to Park City Performances' "Dead-wood "Dead-wood Dick" or a ride for two on the Heber Creeper. Pledge for as many different premiums as you want. Or pledge for more than one of a particular premium until the supply runs out, anyway. Some premiums have a limited quantity. Please specify a first and second choice. You also can get a super premium, by bidding for it with a super pledge. When you make your regular pledge, you can make a super pledge to bid for any of 17 items. On Friday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m., KPCW will announce the winning bids for each item. The super premiums include a round-trip for two to Washington, D.C., Jan Peterson's famous fishing expedition on the Madison River, a month for two at th. .:.,(....,.,. Tennis Club, a dinner in your own home featuring Tokyo Joe's fall menu or a "Rockapulco Vacation" at Rockport. Make a pledge by calling 649-9004 or 649-8395 during the week. Then come to the KPCW studio (bottom floor of the Marsac Municipal Building) for a glass of wine on Friday, Aug. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. Finegan said the goal for this year's drive is $13,000. Last year's drive, she said, raised about $21,000 but that was with a goal of $10,000. "The people were so overwhelmingly overwhelming-ly generous it made it possible to do things we could never afford before," she said. Finegan commended the many generous donors who gave premiums prem-iums for this year's drive. The station also needs willing ' volunteers to answer phones. If you can volunteer, call Finegan at 649-8395. Next week, KPCW's theme is "Money Makes the World Go Round. ' ' (The pledge money goes to pay bottom-line expenses, said general manager Blair Feulner.) But they only play the tune twice a year. Don't forget to sing along. |
