In other hunting news, the annual archery deer season will open Aug. 17 and will run through Sept. 2. The archery elk season will be held from Aug. 24 to Sept. 8. DWR officials remind bow hunters of their responsibility to the game hunted. According to Ed Cornia, coordinator of the DWR's Hunter Education Program, "Archers are ethically bound to follow up on every shot." Hunters should "consider the time you spend after a hit as your second hunt. Put a 100 percent effort into recovering all game," he adds. DWR officials have tentatively slated Sept. 2 as the opening date for hunting mourning dove and band-tailed band-tailed pigeons. For confirmation of the season opening dates and daily bag limits, hunters should call the Utah Hunting Line in Salt Lake City at 530-1297. Anglers interested in fishing the Uinta Mountain lakes and high country may wish to consult one of seven booklets that describes the setting, size, elevation, and depth of water of the lakes and provide information about trails, camping, fish species and management guidelines. ' The brochures are available at all DWR offices for $1 each. |
