But they are now back together incorporating Lawler, Goldflieds, and the Tolers with the ever-present Gregg Allman. Most people are familiar with the publicity surrounding surround-ing Allman's personal life but few people realize that he and his brother grew up in Nashville, hardly considered the center of rock music. He -and Duane's first group was called The Allman Joys later changed to Hourglass. Their official Arista Records press release said they didn't "exactly shake the music world", however, their first two albums are considered collectors items. The band's latest album is called "Brothers of the Road" with Allman and Betts writing most of the tunes. It features the single "Straight From the Heart" and other cuts which they will likely recreate during their Parkwest Concert. Tickets Tic-kets are on sale at the Kimball Art Center and the Cowboy Bar. Show time is set for 3 p.m. Rock n' rollers will be in for a treat September 6, when The Allman Brothers Band entertains at Parkwest. The group consists of Gregg Allman-organ and vocajs, Dickey Betts-lead guitar and vocals, David "Rook" Gold-flies--bass, Mike Lawler--piano and keyboards, "Dan- ! gerous" Dan ToIer--lead guitar, David "Frankie" Toler-;-drums and Butch Trucks-drums. The band is minus two of their founding members. Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971 at the age of 24 and bassist Berry Oakley died in a similar accident a year later. The two men along with Gregg Allman Betts, Oakley, Trucks and drummer Jai JohnV Johanson cut their fkst two albums "The" Allman Brothers Band" and "Idlewild South'.
