Show Condominium Plat Turned Down Plat approval for the 310 Marsac Condominium project was denied by members of the City Council last Thursday pending either completion of agreed upon landscaping or posting of a bond to cover the expense. Previously landscaping improvements were required to be in place . before an occupancy permit is issued but not before the plat is approved. The Council's action Thursday set a precedent that will be most likely followed from now on. The change in policy was recommended by Councilwoman Helen Alvarez who said landscaping improvement responsibility is often transferred from the developers to buyers and sometimes is not completed according to plans. She ad'ded the new policy insures projects will be properly landscaped before sales are closed. School Building Fees Waived Members of the City Council agreed to waive all city related building fees for the new middle school under construction east of the high school. The fees would have amounted to $209,862. In approving the measure. Mayor Jack Green stressed the importance of both school district and city government' working together for the betterment of the community. "Money for these projects comes from the same place - the pockets of the taxpayers," he said, "and we have to cooperate in their best interest". Light Plan Adopted A resolution was passed by the Ci , Council l-.t Thursday that will eventually require street lights in all :wk City subdivisions. The current subdivision ordinance docs not require the lights. From now on the lights u'.'l be required and will be .standardized in design similar lo those now in Park Meadows. |
