Show EDITORIAL After more than a year and a half of hard work, both behind the scene and in the forefront, the restoration of the Historic Miners' Hospital is very near to becoming a reality. Financing has been generously provided by the citizens via a bond issue, working drawings are complete, and last Thursday a contract was awarded for the actual work. Groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled for September 7 during the city's traditional Miners Day celebration. When the project is completed this spring, citizens will not only have preserved one of their most significant historic landmarks but they will have built a fine public library to enrich the lives of all residents for many years to come. The project represents a community wide commitment towards the preservation of our rich historic heritage and towards the betterment of our city through the construction of fine public facilities. More than that, the Miners' Hospital restoration represents a unifying force in our community which has been torn with dissension throughout the summer. The cost of the project will be born by all Park City residents and the pride with its completion can be shared by all our citizens. The benefits derived educationally, spirtually and culturally by the project will continue past our time for generations to come. It is a monumental project in many ways and symbol of our community's willingness to contribute generously now to improve the quality of life in Park City for the future. The responsibility for this fine communityproject lies for the most part with the unselfish, hardworking members of the. Park City Library Board. The project began as their dream, and it is through their hard work and community dedication that it is now a reality. The members of the Park City Library Board deserve the appreciation and thanks of all our residents. |
