Show Summit Park Sewer Collection Proposal Draws Few Protests A Summit County special improvement district for a sewer collection system in Summit Park received generally favorable reaction reac-tion last week at a public hearing at the Winters Middle School in Park City. According to County Planning Director Max Greenhalgh, the meeting produced "few protests, and those were quite mild." The special district created last month by the county commissioners, commission-ers, will acquire fund through bond sales to construct a sewage collection system to serve all lots The committee will consist of three permanent homeowners, three absentee homeowners and a representive of the developer, Summit Park Company. A delinquent fund must also be established to guarantee delinquent delinqu-ent payments of the $18,500 levy, which can be paid off in 10 yearly installments of $185 plus eight percent interest. Greenhalgh said construction of the collection system could begin next fall and be completed by fall, 1979. in Summit Park. The cost of the system has been set by the engineering firm of Kaiserman and Associates at $1.5 million and will be paid off by an $1850 assessment levied on each lot owner. Greenhalgh said an earlier meeting had produced questions about whether the cost estimate was too low, but that the recent bidding on the Snyderviile Basin regional treatment plan reinforced rein-forced the engineering firm's credibility. The bids on the plant came in $700,000 less than the estimated cost, prepared by Kaiserman. County Commissioner Bill Wal-lin Wal-lin also allayed fears last week by agreeing that if the bids were more than 20 percent higher than the cost estimate, the commissioners commissio-ners would cancel the project. The only other concern expressed expres-sed at the Tuesday hearing was the potential environmental damage dam-age of the collection lines, which Kaiserman explained would be "minimal." At the request of Summit Park Homeowners Association representative repre-sentative Jean Buchanan, a special committee will be established est-ablished to oversee construction of the collection system. |
