residency requirement reinstated With councilman Steve Dering and Jan Wilking dissenting, the city council last week voted 3-2 to reinstate a two year residency requirement for members of the planning commission. Two appointments to the commission in the last year have been residents for less than two years. The council will soon be considering applications for the opening on the commission created by the election of Bob Wells to city council. Wells will leave the commission and be sworn in as councilman January 2. Wilking argued that residency should be considered in evaluating applicants, but should not be a requirement.
