Head Cross Country Coach Marty Hall and Assistant Coach Rob Kiesel took time out from other activities lo provide local students with demonstrations in physical fitness techniques. lim Kelly, a member of the nali'Mial Blue Team, demonstrated demon-strated the "roller-ski", which simulates cross country ski techniques, and Randy Kerr, also a member of the Blue Team, demonstrated the "exergenie". which helps strengthen arm muscles. Ralph Wakley. former member of the National Cross Country and Dcealholon learns, has been working with Park City children interested in cross country skiing. "I'hvsical fitness is difficult to keep up alone." said Wakley. who is attempting to involve elementary school children in group physical fitness activitcs vear around. However, the high school principle is more supportive suppor-tive ol sports such as football and basketball, and less interested in life sports those which a person can continue throughout life." High School Principle Simmons replied that. "The school is more supportive of competitive sports such .is football and basketball because the eommunitv is. People arc simply more interested in competitive sports than thev arc in I hose where there is no intramural competition. .That's whv the district pays for football and basketball coaches at Park llinh. and not for ski training coaches. The best we can do is allow the ski team members to use our facilities."
