Show LARGE D EUCE HEIRS jCiEBTiST The Ogden theater was completely filled by the large crowd which was present last evening to hoar, the ad-, ad-, dress. on..Chilstan, Science, delivered i by Francln J. Fluno, C. S D Mr. f Fluno is a member of the Christian I Science board of lectureship of the First .Church of Christ, Scientist, of Boston. Mass, . - . . 1 He lectured In this, city jinder the auspices of the First Church of Christ.. Scientist, of Ogden. The lecturer lec-turer la a venerable gentleman who has been long In the pastorate of the Christian Science cnurch Ills discourse dis-course wis a very comprehensive re view of the doctrine Pr Fluno said, in part: 'Christian Science 1h the Science of being it is the law of. life, truth ahd lovi? understood and demonstrated. demonstrat-ed. Christian Science cannot Tall, any more than the science of humberR can fall. The eternal laws of life, truth and love having their foundation founda-tion in the one Cod, can no more fal' than their foundation .principle, the eternal Cod. can fall.. The science of being is as independent as , the . science sci-ence of mathematics. Like the. spirit spir-it of love, it seeks no reward and fears no, punishment. Since it is the eternal fact of being., it, can stand alone; being true, and Its principle, truth, it asks no support from. any one or anything.. U Is, the same, whether thousands rally to. Its .standards .stan-dards or seek to. trail Its.. banner in the dust. It is a living reality, and Its principle, everlasting life, and therefore there-fore it cannot die U will. Hve through all the ages vet, to come, as It has lived through all the ages that hitve already come. "And because Christian Science Is the eternal fact of being. It does not, therefore. teachv eternal banishment from Cod, or good, but on the contrary. con-trary. It teaches that all must come to truth at last. God Is omnipotent, and lelng 'yesterday, today and forever' for-ever' the same. His omnipotence therefore, forever has been and .forever .for-ever will remain. Hence, 'no other power can be, no other power has ever been, no other power can ever be able to slay His mighty hand, or thwart Him in His. purpose "Therefore, God and heatn are. and their opposite is not. and divine science is the angel ,that comrs to d.iv to lay bold on that old serp-nt which Is the devil and SaUn and will chain him and cast him into the bottomless bot-tomless pit (the great nowhere), arid all his angels with him.. . "' Christian Scientists.' being student1 stu-dent1 of this divine science, and finding find-ing how scientifically true it Is, naturally nat-urally and necessarily, in a mcas re at least, grow to become one with it, to reflect It, to lepresent it. and express ex-press it, in thought, In wold and in deed. . , Christian Science Not Mesmerism. "Christian Science is not mesmerism; mesmer-ism; mesmerlsid Is the liollet cf mind many, that each Individual has a nMn 1 of his . own. that tbe stpng"r mind can inflnencp and take unlawful control con-trol of the weaker mind, wMch, judging judg-ing from appearance, would be the natural inference, and if the senses , could be. trusted, and appeirances were reliable, this would be the only conclusion that cmiid be arrived at. But we 'thank God. through. Jesus Christ, our Lord,' that in the light of Christian Science, the Reyelator, that mortal sense is found to.be, a non-reatlty. non-reatlty. That the Rible and Sconce and Health, corroborating .the. scriptures, scrip-tures, also the grand and unsurpassed demonstrations of Jesus and Apostles, and the. corroborative testimonies of healing through Christian Sel-nre. all teach and demonstrate that the One Mind has power over the carnal mind; that tho sense testimony is false, and the Christ mind is true. 'Science and Health and the Rible, when rljhtly , understood, disclose th-fact th-fact that Cod Is the only mind, and the so-called mortal mind is but the carnal mind that must be corrected by the divine mind. So that Christian Chris-tian Science, so far from being mesmerism; mes-merism; for. Instead of teaching minds jnany, it teaches one mind, and that, the "mind of' God, in whom no evil Is, no sickness, sin or death, which mind must overcame and anuihi'ate the moral mind or negative mind, as darkness is swallowed up by light. "And Christian Scientists. Instead of being mesmerists, are finding their war out of .mesmerism, out. of the belief of minds many, into, tho one mind, the mind that Is God. where all so-called mortal minds are swallowed up and lost In the one divine rnlnd, wherein dwelleth righteousness. "Christian Science Is the scientific knowledge of the law of life redueod to a system and found practical, not 1 only in the physical healing of sick-I nesvs and sin and all evil, but In the destruction of them off the face of the earth, that Ills kingdom come, ami His will be done on earth as it Is In heaven. And Christian Scientists are thoso who. to tho extent that they understand this great truth, are practicing prac-ticing it upon themselves and others, who ask of them the same God's blessing. And hundred are being healed every day, of sickness as well as of pin, and of sin as well as . of sickness, and these, In their turn, are i learning the great law of being, and how to apply it in their own case, and I upon those, who In their turn shall ccme to them. No Reality in Sin. "Christian Science teaches there is no reality In sin; that God made all that was made, and all. He made was I good; that God did not make sin. In j the Bible Ae read that God is of 'Purer eyes than to behold evil, and ( cant not look upon iniquity' The t Master fald: 'There 13 but one Gid. ' that is God,' and Science and Health 1 in Its teachings corroborates these j statements, and reveals God as the only God; and that He is only sod. that Is, He Is not good and evil. . loo. He Is the one absolute good, lu 1 whom no evil is. Since no evil is in Him, theietore, n evil coull ema- nate from Him, hence, He made no ell, and since He made no evil, and He made all that was made --therefore, evil never was made-. "Therefore, sin, sickness. p-ln an') I death, evil, error and discord of all I kinds, do not belong to Gcd, nor to ! His creation, and are no part of the great fact of being, than the erro-s and misunderstandings of mnthemat-I mnthemat-I lcs, are a part of the science of nurn-I nurn-I hers; and rnan and the uuivere, in ' hlg true spiritual sense, Is found to be as sinless nnl perfect now. and aa unehangoablo lu bis slnlessnes as the everlasting Father the perfect, sinless, and unchangeable God Himself. Him-self. "'Be ye, therefore, perfect, oven as your Father which is in heaven la por-HocL' por-HocL' ' |
