Asslstani Engineer Roach this, morning commenced the survey for tbe Coldwater canyou conduit and will (ontluue the work until plans and specifications for the .'ncquoduct can be drawn It was stated this horning by Engineer En-gineer Uostaph that as soon as the plans cau be presented to the council coun-cil and an estimate made of the approximate ap-proximate cost of the conduit, ho will advertise for bids fkr the excavation work. It Is the intention of the engineering en-gineering department of the city to have the Coldwater canyon conduit In place beforo tbe freezing weather sets in. This will make It possible to turn the spring waters of the canyon Into the city reservoir and provide an additional supply of water wat-er early In the year. The calculations now are that tho conduit, together with a receiving baoln In tho can.von. will co6t in tho neighborhood of $20,ono and. according accord-ing to the statement of Superintendent Superintend-ent C. H. Klrchor, enough water will bo supplied from the Coldwater canyon can-yon to furnish tho city with all the water It will need until about the first of July. He says that It will not be necessary to build a reservoir In the canyon, but that a concrete basin will be placed so as to Intercept the entire flow of water in the cau-yon. |
