One of the most remarkable escapes fro'.u death in the annals of lakc Superior copper industry occurred yesterday at the Red Jacket shaft of the Calumet Calu-met Heclft mine, when Mike" l. Sunrlch. a timberman, in sieppl'ig from the repair cav;e to the main cute fell into the shaft. He fell K'.o feet before he giasped the rope attached at-tached to the skip, saving himself from a fall of a mile, to the bottom et the shaft His hands were badly I1 burned on the wire rope, but otherwise other-wise he was unhurt. Sunrlch was dangling from the cable when rescued.
