Hopkins, proprietor of a confectionery confection-ery store nt 26 West Third South street, was arrested Sunday afternoon after-noon at - -1:45 o'clock and taken to tho station by Patrolman Patterson and Egbert, who charged him with selling liquor without a license. The police have been watching the store for some timo with a view of gathering evidence against the proprietor, pro-prietor, who Is said to have been warned that his place was under surveillance. sur-veillance. The clerk was told that he was under arrest for a violation of the Sunday liquor ordinance and he was then asked to produce his license. When be failed to show either a government govern-ment license or a license from the cltv for tho sale of liquor he was taken tak-en to the station. All of the wine, liquor and beer In the store was confiscated con-fiscated and tnken to the station, where it la being held as evidence. |
