The most Important allegation of Mr. Hitchcock Is that funds of the InUiior department were Improperly used In paying private traveling expenses ex-penses of Secretary Balllnger's nephew. The secretary" and other officials of-ficials of the interior department were subpoenaed to appear before tho house committee on expenditure, to which Mr. Hitchcock's charges were addressed. The Republican caucus to select members of the Joint Investigation committee will be held Wcdnesmy evening. Tho Democrats have selected select-ed Rainey of Illinois and James of Kentucky. The Senate members of the committee will be namM by Vice President Sherman as president of the senate. |
