Show CHILDREN FOUND ALONE Mr. and Mrs. E H Chandler and Mr.- and Mrs. C. H. Chandler of Chicago Chi-cago were In Ogden this morning, haxlng spent Sunday In Salt Iake on their way to San Francisco and Los Angeles. They said the weather was so much warmer here than in Chicago Chi-cago thet they were really uncomfortably uncomfort-ably warm. While here tho elder Mr. Chandler picked up two little tots from American Ameri-can Fork who wore on their way to Tonopah, Sox., where they were to meet their mother, whom they soy left them five months ago They were cold and hod had no breakfast, ana when Mrs. Chandler found them sho took them Into the depot dining room and got them something hot to ont and drink, warmed them up and on her own account took them In charge, and said she thought she would be able to see them to their destination The little girl, who gave her name as Gwendola Stock6, and her age as eight, and the age of hor little brother broth-er Loring Stocks, as seven, told rather a pitiful story and 6eemed Indifferent In her desire to go to hor mother. She said: '"Mama ran awav from papa, and I guess when we not there she'll board us out like she always has We haven't got any home. Mam;i was always traveling aDd we were always put out to board some plare." They gave their mother's name as Nellie May and when asked If fcho were an actress, sold they didn't know. Their father Is Jim Stocks and since their mother loft, they have been living with an aunt, Mr8. George Adams,. Ad-ams,. A dispatch was received at tho telegraph tel-egraph ofllce this morning, saying: "Am sending money for tho chil drcn," signed "Nellie May." Before Mrs. Chandler found the children they had been In the hands of a man 6eomlngly of bad character who got up an acquaintance on th train this morning between American Fork and Ogden with a woman who seemed to be of the same character, and she, the children said, had been mean to them, shaking them and saying say-ing mean things. It Is surmised from tho general trend of the childish conversation thai the mother Is In Nevada for the purpose' pur-pose' of securing a divorce. The children chil-dren seemed delighted that they had found a friend who mothered them up until they seemed bubbling over wllh gratitude. |
