Show HEAVY RAINS WEST OF HERE MAY INTERFERE WITH OPERA-. OPERA-. TION OF TRAINS. Southern Pacific People Are Making an Expellent Showing While De-touring De-touring Trains Reports received at local railroad headquarters indicate that heavy rains continue In every direction from Og den along the various roads centering In this city. Pullman employes coming com-ing through over the Southern Pacific from Oakland state that the Sacramento Sacra-mento valley Is in a frightful condition as a resuU of almost continuous rains for the past two weeks, and that the whole country west of Reno is under water to a great extent. Tho damage is estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars and, unless the downpour ceates soon, further destruction to railroad properly Is apprehended. Ir. the circumstances, Southern Pacific Pa-cific operating officials are making an excellent record In handling passenger traffic west of Ogden on tho Salt Lake and Sacramento divisions. Trains Nos. 6 and 10, due in this, city at 6:20 and 7:10, arrived from the west this morning morn-ing about two hours late, and trains Nos, 2 and 4. due at Ogden this afternoon after-noon at 1:30 and 5:35, will arrive this evening from three to five hours late, the delay being caused by dctouring tho trains over the Northern Electric road on the Sacramento division.. Although track conditions are soft between Ogden and Sparks, tho entlro division is in fairly good condition and passenger trains are making better than schedule time from Reno to this city. Union Pacific passenger trains from the east are all nearly on schedule, and the same may, be said of Oregon Short Line trains from the north. Notwithstanding heavy rains between be-tween Ogden and Grand Junction for several days. Rio Grande passenger trains are arriving In this .city nearly on time and are establishing a record satisfactory and pleasing to Superintendent Superin-tendent Stonger, Local Agent Cronin and other officials of the system. |
