The suit brought in 1&02 by the ranchers of Mason and Smith valleys, owning land adjacent to the course of the Car-Eon Car-Eon river in Lyon, Douglas and Esmeralda Es-meralda counties, Nevada, and Mono county, California, against Miller and Lux, the millionaire land and cattle owners of California and Nevada, involving in-volving titles to water rights which affected 60,000 acres of land valued at $3,000,000, has been amicably settled out of court ' The settlement of this suit; in which there were 120 contestants and which is the largest of its kind ever brought before a tribunal in the United States, has made nn epoch in water litigation in the western country. |
