Rumors of the organization of a gigantic new express ex-press company, which wlll include one of the leading express companies of Denver, and which may be able to monopolize mo-nopolize a great portion of tho transcontinental trans-continental business by reason of the fact that it will reduce the time between be-tween New York and San Francisco via Denver and Salt Lake by thirty, six hours, are rife among express r'"-clos. r'"-clos. It is said the new company will be backed by Edward H. Harnman and George Gould, and that the two Interests will work In harmony to accomplish ac-complish the shortening of the time between coast and coast a full day j and a half. The new company, it is said, -will bo ready for business this fall upon the completion of the Western Pacific , railroad, which is expected to be ready for traffic some time in September. The news of the completion of tho Spring Garden tunnel, a bore of 7,000 feet long, on tho Western Pacifls, shows that construction work on the new line Is beiog pressed to the uttermost utter-most and that the road will be ready for business at the time appointed, is the thorough belief of the men who are in charge of the work. Seven days are now consumed in transporting express packages from New York to San Francisco; when the Harriman-Gould combination goes into effect the time will be reduced to a 1 little more than five days. ' According to the best reports obtainable, obtain-able, the route of the new line will be over the Baltimore and Ohio, which is controlled by Harrlman, from the Atlantic coast to Pittsburg.
