Show RETURNS; PR 01 sop : Taft Is Pleased With His Trip to North Carolina Washington, May 21. President Taft, returning from Charlotte, N. C reached Washington at 10:40 a. m. today, and entering one of the executive execu-tive automobiles, was driven through a heavy rain direct to tho -Wilto j House. When he arrived at the ex- ) ecutlve office, he gave directions that the cabinet be assembled for Ita usual Friday morning sitting. Tho President found Mrs. Taft much Improved Im-proved in health. Rain pursued the President all tbe way from Charlotte, where on yesterday yes-terday he was in the center of a veritable veri-table cloudburst. Nearly four inches of rain fell In the North Carolina city while the President was there, and he arrived in a drenching downpour. The President's first trip Into .the south since his inauguration was replete re-plete with incident, JIo spent three nights on the train, and his days were crowded with addresses, receptions, recep-tions, luncheons and dinners. In Charlotte last night, the President held a public reception, during which he shook hands seemingly with the , entire population. The President enjoyed en-joyed meeting the people' thoroughly, and was especially pleased with the congratulations he received at Caar- ! lotto upon the speech he made there. Tho speech was mentioned by nearly everyone with whom he shook hands. The President was urged to visit the South again, and said he would be marc than glad to do so. |
