Will j some of the women's clubs of Ogdeu take the lead and bring about concerted con-certed action throughout the city? We ask our women readers: Havo you been reading tho reports from the East on the elaborate plans for the extermination of the house fly and have you studied the statements of doctors and health officers as to tho far-reaching results of flies allowed to multiply and enter the homes? It is claimed that much of tho typhoid fever of the summer and fall months and much of the spread of other diseases dis-eases Is due to the germs of diseases carried by the fly. There are several methods suggested suggest-ed by which to lessen the fly evil. One Is to screen the homes, employ fly paper pa-per and other traps, but the most practical suggestion, and one which gets at the root of the evil, Is to de- . stroy the fly larvae. Tho eggs of flics 1 are deposited in rubbish, garbage or manure. Bv onvoHnr enrh nith .jik an Insecticide, the larvae can bo killed. kill-ed. All stables should be regularly troated to a sprinkling of insecticide, also all rubbish and garbage should be covered. If one of the women's clubs cannot devote the time to organizing this crusade, then wc suggest that tho lady officers confer with the city sanitary san-itary inspector and urge him to .bring about a systematic campaign for this much-needed elimination of tho foul fly the fly which feeds In filth and then flies, with dripping legs and hairs, to Hie family table, there to establish a colony of disease germs. |
