June 22 Possibility1 of establishing a print paper mil in Utah as a means of solving the present1 shortage, and a decision to set a now ' scale of minimum prices for advertising adver-tising by the country newspapers were discussed at yesterday's session of the annual convention of the Utah Press association at the Commercial club. ! James II. AVallis. editor of the Ver- nal Express, was elected president of the association for the third lime. Mr. Wall is is also prosident of the Utah Public Health association. Other officers of-ficers elected were A. D. .McGuire, publisher pub-lisher of the Tremonton Nows. vice-president; vice-president; K. T. Porto, president of the Porte Publishing company, secretary: secre-tary: and C. D. Smith of Salt Lake, recording secretary. About 25 editors and managers were present at the convention. President Wallis 3tated that the newspapers must increase both their circulation and advertising rates in order to meet the Increased custa of publication. oo |
