JIcAdoo, In a, statement tonight, declared de-clared hi3 announcement that he vtJuld not permit his name to bo presented pre-sented as a candidate for the Demo- cratlc presidential nomination had no relation to tho political Interview with President Wilson published tho day before He declared he knew nothing1 of the interview until he saw it in print, and that the president knew nothing of his withdrawal until after notice of it had been published. The statement follows: "In order to set at rest absurd rumors ru-mors and speculation which have been published to the effect that my lettct-of lettct-of withdrawal had some relation to the president's World interview, or carried a concealed purpose, I wish to 1 say, first, that I knew nothing what- ever of tho president's interview until I saw it In the papers, and, second, that the president knew nothing whatever what-ever of my letter of withdrawal until he saw it iu the public print." |
