Show INUWSPOLL "Hoover Second in Straw Vote Conducted by the Literary Digest Senator Hiram Johnson of California Califor-nia Is Utah's presidential cholco as shown by a campaign which Is being conducted by tho Literary Digest to determine the presidential sentiment of the nation. The campaign has now been going on five weeks and it Is believed that about ono-tenth of total number of returns have been received. Utah gjves 1330 votes to Johnson, tho nearest candidate being Herbert Hoover with 1001 votes. Leonard Wood Is next In line with 619 Utah votes andf'Willlam G. McAdoo fourth with 494. Cox Is tho low man In the Utah column, receiving but 24 ballots. The completo figures of tho Utah vote follows: Democrat Bryan, 195; Clark, 37; Cox, 24; Edwards, 53; Marshall. 26; McAdoo', 494; Palm6V, 65; Wilson, 2S9. Republican Coolidge, 77; Harding. 33; Hoover, 101; Hughes, 134; Johnson, John-son, 1330; Lowden, 361; Taft, .81; Wood, G19. Socialist Debs, SI. Tho total vote cast during tho past week in all parts of tho United States greatly favors Johnson. On six of the seven days his namo has stood at the head of the list, credited with a great-or great-or number of ballots than any other contender. Since the last report ho has gained somo 3000 votes upon General Gen-eral Wood the only candidato now leading him. Wood Is now leading with a, total of 202, 0S9 votes, Johnson second with 187,140, and Hoover third, with 169,-552. 169,-552. President Wilson has received 45,369 votes. oo |
