Show j uo r- II BRIGHAM SOCIETY I i i, BRIGHAM CITY, May 15. Mr. and I Mrs. E. P. Hanson of Providence announce an-nounce the engagement of their daughter, Delia, to AJustin B. Call of Brigham, the marriage to lake place in June. Miss Hanson is Ihc sister of Mrs. Warren W. Knudson of this city and is well known in Providence and Logan, where she has attended school. Mr. Call is the eldest son of Judge anil Mrs. J. D. Call and at pres-1 ent is. attending the University , of Utah, where he is studying medicine. He was also a member of tho medical medi-cal corps of the' Utah national guard and took an active part in the recent war. Much interest will be taken in 1 this announcement by the many friends of Miss Hanson and Mr. Call and every good wish is extended to I them. i Mrs. D. W. Henderson entertained at a children's party Friday evening in honor of the birthday of her little son. David. The little folks enjoyed a mental trip around the United States with Di Henderson, besides playing various other games. A dainty luncheon lunch-eon was serv ed aud covers vc.eg ioid for fourteen. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Peters entertained entertain-ed at a family dinner at theic 'home Monday evening in honor of 'the birthday birth-day anniversary of Mr. Peters. The evening was spen in an informal way and was much enjoyed by the children child-ren and grandchildren present. Mrs- Thomas Secrist entertained Thursday evening in honor of the birthday anniversary of her husband. Numerous musical selections were enjoyed en-joyed and games were played after which refreshments were served. Spier-man. w Mrs. Ira W. Larsen entertained tho Social Development club at her home Friday afternoon, assisted by Mrs. Carl HanBon. The time was spent at needlework, after which a dainty luncheon - was served. Dogtooth violets vio-lets and tulips formed a centerpiece for the' dining table. The club members mem-bers present were: Mesdames W. H. Griffiths, Wilford Anderson, Kenneth Wright. Frank Earl, Clifford Jensen, Noble FIshburn, Henry 'Frogloy, Sterling Ster-ling Madsen, N Perry Peters, Milton Jensen, Emery Recs and Norman Ivor-son. Ivor-son. Christensen entertained en-tertained Saturday evening In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. T. Bailey, who recently returned from California whero they have been spending their honeymoon. A delightful supper was served to thirty guests during the fore part of the evening by Miss Alta Francis Fran-cis and Miss Florence Christenson. Hyacinths in a crystal basket formed a centerpiece for tho dining table. The remainder of the evening was spent in games and music. Bailey left Monday for Albion, Idaho, Ida-ho, where thev will make their home. . ' Mrs. John S. Christensen entertained entertain-ed Wednesday evening in honor of the teachers who have been living with her during the school year. After games and music the party went to the Academy of Music where dancing was enjoyed. Following the dance a dainty luncheon was served at the home of the hostess. Miss Bernice Blasdell of Oakland, California, who has been spending the winter in Ogdon, was the guest of Miss Rae E. Knudon of this city- for the week-end. Miss Martha Evans entertained at her home Friday evening in honor oi Miss Eliza Hanson, it also being the birthday of her niece. Miss Mary Anderson. An-derson. Various parlor games were enjoyed en-joyed after which a short program was rendered consisting of a solo by Mrs. J. W. Hooper a reading by Miss Mary Anderson and a solo by Miss Emma Evans. An elaborate two-course lunch-con lunch-con was served at the close of the evening. Violets and petunias were used as decorations and small bou quels of violets were given as guest favors. Miss Mary Anderson was presented pre-sented with a gold lavaliere as a birthday and graduation gift from Miss Martha Evans and Mrs. William Evans. The hostess was assisted ir serving by Mrs. J. W. V Tho Scgo Lily camp of the Daughters Daugh-ters of tho Pioneers met Friday after noon at tho home of Mrs. Carlos Se-darholme. Se-darholme. A sketch of the life of Mrs. Sophy P. Valentine was given by Mrs. Carlos Sedarholme Miss Grace Valentine entertained with a reading. Mrs. Sedarholme gave a piano pi-ano selection, Miss Mona Isaacson gave a solo and Mrs. R. E. Osborne-completed Osborne-completed reading a sketch on the Mormon Battalion. Dainty refreshments refresh-ments were sorved. Those present numbered thirty. a Mrs. J. Johansen entertained Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at her home on North Main in hojior of Mrs. D. W. Henderson. Hender-son. Snapdragons and peach blossoms blos-soms were used artistically as decorations decora-tions in the living room and dining room. During tho afternoon progressive progres-sive 500 was enjoyed and prize for high score was won by Mrs. C. H. Bryan. A gucpl prize was also presented pre-sented to Mrs. Henderson. The luncheon lunch-eon table was adorned with hand painted place cards and had as a cen- terpieoc a largo wicker basket of peach blossoms. A dainty two-course luncheon was served. I " I The Civic Improvement club vaudeville vaude-ville program, which was given Thursday Thurs-day evening at the Liberty theatre, was in every way a success. The little lit-tle Central school girls were, a delight to tho audience and showed excellent Neilson- and Miss Bott. The little picklninnies wero as cute as ever and Miss Brinton's dancing girls were lovely. The little popcorn sack girlies must not be forgotten for their winsome win-some ways sold many a popcorn ball. Their names were Misses Eleanor Kaiser, Edith Nelson, Ruth Stohl, Phyllis Peterson, Alice Secrist and Lena Hansen. The Civic club was also delighted with the large crowd that attended and feel that the people peo-ple of Brigham aro behind them in their present plan of lighting the Tabernacle Tab-ernacle park. The high school faculty entertained the senior class at tho high school Monday evening. The rooms were beautifully decorated with cherry and peach blossoms. On the arrival of the guests each was presented with a col ored paper after which all holding papers pa-pers of similar hue formed groups and composed yells .and songs in favor of Llvelr color. Representatives from the groups gave spontaneous speeches which brought forth cheers from the crowd. This was followed by the dramatization dra-matization Ol a nursery rhyme or story by each group. After a hotly contest-en contest-en peanut race a dainty tray luncheon wis served. Those present numbered eighty-five. Games, singing and refreshments refresh-ments were the enlertaining features o!" the evening. The guest received many beautiful presents. Last Friday evening Miss Martha m Evans gave a very successful enter-tainment enter-tainment at her homo in honor of Miss Eliza Hansen who will leave Brigham vM I in the' near future. The invited guests were those who made up tho party to the world's fair at California some years ago and a.so a few friends. A very enjoyable time was had -play-ing games and listening to solos rcn-dercd rcn-dercd by jIrs. Jesse W. Hoopes and Emma Evans.
