Show :il FOREST f I TRAINING SCHOOL FOfi RANGERS That all forests of the Fourth forest service district may be supplied with experienced forest rangers, the Cache national forest in northern Utah and southern Idaho will be turned Into a training station for men who have passed the civil service examinations for foresi rangers but who have not been assigned to posts in forests, according ac-cording to announcements of J. E. Scott, national forest examiner. Supervisor E. C. Shepherd of the Cache forest is in Ogden today to consider con-sider tentative plans for the forest 1 1 ii ii v , ; I service training station. The Cache forest was chosen as the training grounds of the prospective j i rangers because of the fact thai a wide i and varied experience could be given ? rangers, and because practically all j ' conditions existing in other forests of the district are included in tho Cache I : forest. j ' Another reason was the fact that J j the forest was not only in Utah but 1 '- also in Idaho and would permit the ; forest officials to make appointmonts ; of rancers from the civil service rorris- ? ter of each state. ' K! .The idea is to have the rangers en lli ter service in the Cache forests and li continue to perform the duties of rang-ers rang-ers for a period of not over a year. As vacancies occur in other forests, the rangers will be transferred, and new K "recruits" from the eligibility lists of j ; Utah and Wyoming will be sent to fill " i the vacancy in the Cache forest. ' It is expected that the new system I ' for the training of forest rangers wil. t. be inaugurated as a part of tho fourth i district program with the opening oi spring. : j |
