Show EVENING GATHERINGS SUCH AS DANCES 1 DISCOURAGED BY COMMISSIONER WARD IN VIEW OF GENERAL HEALTH SITUATION While the influenza situation in Ogden Og-den is not alarming at the present time, it is very liable to assume serious seri-ous proportions within the next few days, according to Commissioner J. R. Ward, chairman of the board of public health. "The only way to prevent a serious spread of the disease, stated Mr. Ward "is for the people of the city to cooperate co-operate with the health department in every possible way and to carry out, to the letter, every suggestion offered by the health department. "The particular request of the board of health now ia that all evening gatherings gath-erings that can, bo done away with be eliminated for the next five days. The board requests that churches, wards and all other organizations do not hold evening meetings for the time stated above. "The board further requests and urges that no dances at all be hold in this time and that people remain at home In the evenings as much as possible." pos-sible." According to statistics taken during the influenza contagion last year, it was learned that fifty per cent of the cases were contracted at public gath ering3, dances especially.
