Wyo., July 28. 1919 "Dear Sir: I am advised that there was written a poem at the time of the consolidation, or the joining of the Union Pacific and thc Southern Pa cific. about 1S65. at the time these two railroads came together at a point near Ogden. The first verse of thlf poem read something as follows: ' What was It the engines said Pilot touching head to head Facing on a elngle track Half the world behiud each back? . 'This is what the engines said. Unreported and unread, etc." "I would like very much to get this i poem, and as you have a great many articles and relics of thc building of the Union Pacific. 1 thought perhaps ou would have this and could send me a copy.
