In response to Colonel Woods' appeal, ap-peal, re-employment officers of state branches and local posts of the legion will assist his men to canvass the principal prin-cipal cities where public works pro jects are pending and endeavor to stimulate stim-ulate immediate activity. In order to effectuate the resolutions resolu-tions of the St. Louis meeting of the American Legion endorsing the princi j pies of land development as a means of rehabilitating returning soldiers, a committee of three members of the national na-tional executive committee will make a thorough study of the subject of reclamation re-clamation of arid, swamp and cut over timber lands in cooperation with the secretary' of the interior. This committee com-mittee include Luke Lea, former democratic demo-cratic senator from Tennessee; Thomas Thom-as W. It is quite possible that a number of tho business firms who had! j employes in the service did not receive the letter, and for their benefit the application ap-plication blank is published with this j article. The application blank may be cut out of the paper, properly filled out, and sent to the war department. Upon receipt of the application the department de-partment will forward a certificate. The letter and application blank fol low; they are self-explanatory' "Dear Sir: The war and navy departments de-partments of the United States, In i their efforts to secure the re-emplov-i raent of all young men who are now discharged from the service, have prepared pre-pared the inclosed form which they desire your firm to sign. "The publicity bureau earnestly requests re-quests that you accede to this proposition. propo-sition. "The government issues a certificate certifi-cate about the size of this letter in the lorm of a diploma, to those firms v ho j have promised this re-employmrnt. To firms who have offices in more than one place, they isue duplicates of the certificate, which are Bigned by the secretary of war and the secretary' of navy. "We believe this will make a good impression among your employes and patrons and that you can have no objection ob-jection to signing.
