Show THOUGHT HE M BEEN ROBBED OF LARGE ROLL OF BILLS J R Thompson, a passenger on I'nion Pacific train No. 19, arming in Ogden yesterday morning, reported to the claim agent that he had been robbed ol more than -J1O0O in currency. Thompson said that he left Evanston, Wyo , with over $3000 In currency, silver and certified checks. Two-thirds Two-thirds of this amount was in certified certi-fied checks Local officials were somewhat alarmed over the situation and held Thompson pending an investigation. The porters on the train were call id and complete statements were taken from them. Just as they were about to finish the investigation, it occurred to one of the party present that Thompson unconsciously might have the money on his person. Thompson searched his baggage and all of his pockets and the last one in which he felt, an inside pocket in his vest, ne found $1050 in a roll of bills. Officials believe that the man was in Evanston testing the 'moisture' there and became affected. Porters on the train said he got on the train just this side of "three breezes to the wind." rn . |
