June 11 At the conclusion of a sensational trial, In which Ignacio Martinez and his son In-law, Ramon Archuletta, Mexicans, were charged with the murdor of Rudolph E. Mellin-thin Mellin-thin a forest ranger in the La Sal district, dis-trict, San Juan count , both men were today sentenced lo the state prison. Archuletta waa sentenced to life imprisonment im-prisonment and Martinez to fifteen years. The most sensational feature of the trial was the action of Archuletta in pleading guilty to murder in tho second sec-ond degree and taking the entire responsibility re-sponsibility for Ihe killing upon Dim self, in an endeavor to shield his father-in law The jurv, however, decided de-cided that Martinez was equally guil ty and convicted bim to the charge to which Archuletta had pleaded cuilty About a year ago Archuletta was drafted into the army in New Mexico and was sent to Oamp Funston.
