Show oo TOO MUCH SELF INFLATION. One of tho public speakers at tho recruiting stand last evening objected object-ed to a statement made in the Stand- ard and Salt Lako Tribune, quoting those who aro to supervlso conscription conscrip-tion in the state as Intimating that tho young follows who seek to escape registration by vacations in the canyons can-yons or mountains, would find the recruiting re-cruiting officers on thoir trail. Tho speaker declared thero aro no cowards' cow-ards' in Utah and ho resented the aspersion. What a chesty attitude to strike! Utah, Hko nny other state, has Its highly patriotic, overwhelming majority; major-ity; it lias Its small Indifferent class and it has a few slackers. To pretend that it has no slackers is to assume a virtue which does not belong to any great body of people, and betrays a conceit which should receive the attention at-tention of an alienist. no |
