Meyers, former judge of the state supremo court, who as temporary chairman of the Republican state convention, delivered the keynote address ad-dress of the 1916 campaign in Indiana Indi-ana here this afternoon, attacked the foreign and Mexican policies of the national administration. The speaker speak-er praised Charles W. Fairbanks, In- ' dlana's candidnte for he Republican nomination for president. "The nation," said tho speaker, "has never in its history stood so low in the eyes of the world as In ' this year of grace, scorned abroad and with no fixed policy at home, the public revenues decreasing (except for the circumstances of a foreign war), general expenditures and the ! cost of living increasing and general ' distrust on every hand." As patriots before partisans, Judge ! Meyers said, tho Republicans have , sought so far as possible to uphold the hands of tho president and have refrained from criticism "until our ! Democratic friends, apparently thinking think-ing we were acquiescent in the president's pres-ident's course with respect to our foreign for-eign relations, are asking the support of tho country to continue the failure." |
