Show DEMOCRATS WIN, CHICAGO CONTEST Chicago, April 4. Democrats scored heavily in today's aldormanic elections in the thirty-flvo wards of the city. A year ago the Democrats carried but seven wards, and William H. Thompson, Thomp-son, Republican, was elected mayor by 147,477 majority. Today the Democrats Demo-crats carried twenty-one wards, the Socialists one and the Republicans but thirteen. There are thirty-five holdover aldermen, alder-men, and with the line-up revised to date the Democrats came within four wards of wresting control of the city council from their rivals. Of the Republicans elected only three bore the Thompson label. The others "belonged to the anti-Thompson faction in the city ball. Issues Involved were local or purely political. Involved was Mayor Thompson's Thomp-son's ambition to succeed Roy O. West as Republican national committeeman. commit-teeman. The election for committeeman committee-man will be held next Tuesday. The suicide of Dr. Theodore Sachs, president of the American Tuberculosis Tu-berculosis association and internationally internation-ally known as an expert on tuberculosis, tubercu-losis, came as a dramatic Incident oi the close of tho campaign. It was used in full measure by tho "antis." Dr. Sachs, according to his friends, was not a politician, but had devoted H his life to building up the Chicago H municipal tuberculosis sanitarium, of v jH which he was for years the head. H Sunday morning Dr. Sachs was H found dead, a suicide.
