Show NEW COACH FOR LOGAN AGGIES J. W. Watson of U. of Illinois Will Succeed Coach Teetzel at Agricultural College. Logan, April 4. The board of trustees trus-tees of the Agricultural college has confirmed the appointment of J. W. Watson of the University of Illinois at Urbana as head coach at the college. col-lege. Watson succeeds Coach Teetzel, Teet-zel, who has been In charge of athletics ath-letics at the college since the fall of 1909. Since the first of the year Teetzel has only acted as head of the department of physical education, Harold Ofstie doing the coaching and being in charge of the gymnasium. Watson is highly recommended by the authorities at the University of Illinois. Ho was captain of Coach Zupke's 1914 Big Nine conference champions, playing center. He played play-ed on tho varsity team three years under Zupke and was selected for the all-conferonce team the year his team was champion. Besides playing football, Watson has participated iu other branches of sport at IUinl. Both Coach Zupke and Professor Huff, head of the department of physical phys-ical education, givo Watson the highest high-est praise, and say that ho is tho best fitted man in the university for a coaching position Watson will be graduated iu June of this year from the school of agriculture, agri-culture, having been at tho university univer-sity more than four years, doing work also in other branches of study, Although students and friends of the Agricultural college know nothing more about the new coach, they are satisfied with the selection of the athletic ath-letic committee, from the recommendation recommen-dation glvsn by authorities at the Illinois Il-linois institution. |
