Miss Edith Serkin, chief witness in the recent trial of Mayor Charles E Sebastian, Se-bastian, then candidate for mayor, and her 'sister, Mrs Lillie Pratt, on a charge involving their moral conduct con-duct toward the girl, recently made a confession to four superior court judges that her .testimony at tho trial was false, It became known here today rue contession was maue artcr Miss Serkin ran away from a country homo near Los Angeles, where she had boon placed by order of the ju-enlle ju-enlle court Miss Serkin returned to tho home of her sister, Mrs. Pratt, and is said to havo staled that -her conscience would not let her rest until un-til she had told tho truth. Recently she was visited by Judges Perry N Wood, Grant Jackson, Sidney Sid-ney Reeve and Paul J McCormlck. of the superior court Presiding Judge John M. York stated last night that the girl had made a statement to tho four judges, in which Mayor Sebastian Sebas-tian and Mrs. Pratt wore filed during dur-ing the campaign of Mr. JSobastlan, then chief of police, for mayor.
