Show THEATERS 1 AT THE ORPHEUM. Headed by General Risano of the Italian army, In his remarkable feature feat-ure act, "The Bombarding of Tripoli," the "regular" Pantages vaudeville program pro-gram presented yesterday afternoon and evening at the Orpheum theatre I proved one of the best of the season. Risano is fully entitled to his headline position, as he presents a most remarkable re-markable act. He Is a remarkably skillful sharpshooter and aBlde from the interest caused by the spectacular opening of his act, the audience is held in wonderment by his almost uncanny shooting. The bill is given a good start by the Swain-Ostman trio of acrobats. The trio are expert tumblers and mix feats ot skill with comedy in the approved whirlwind fashion. Gertie Van Dyke in , "Songs and Clothes," has an act good enough for the "big time." She is an unusually Bitted comedienne. The sketch "The Boy and the Regi- ment," presented by Laura Winston ! and Company, is genuinely interest-Grady interest-Grady and Harlow, who are down on I the program for some ballroom dan-v : ces, can also do other things that Drove good entertainment. The act is performed in a realistic stage setting, representative of the Arizona desert and the dances are descriptive of religious rites of the Hopi Indians. Indlta is graceful and athletic and adds interest to her act by handling poisonous snakes of several kinds, in connection with the Interpretation of the dances Her work was viewed with deep attention and was heartily applauded. A comedy playlet, "Mr. Step's Stepson," Step-son," presented by Mabel Florence and two male foils, is of next interest and is stamped with genuine approval The three members of the cast are thoroughly experienced players. Agnes Ahern and Company have something new in the way of acrobatics acrobat-ics and close their performance with a sensational turn. Feats of strength that are interesting make up the fore part of the act and in the concluding feature, the company, a modern "Hercules." "Her-cules." balances an immense electric wheel. The lady mounts the wheel, the electric current is turned into it and she is whirled around at rapid speed for more than a minute, the r.-r.tn -r o n!rlo if Hchfc Sam Herman, a Hebrew character comedian, has plenty of talent but needs a new dialogue, a couple of songs being the only things in his act worth while. Lee Chandler and partner, make a big hit in their opening song and dance numbers, as they have considerable consider-able talent Marshal and Nelson have an acceptable accept-able stock act, their songs and dancing danc-ing being well received. |
