Instead, tho prospects are ho will remain in Nebraska Ne-braska and becorao assistant coach of the 1916 Cornhuskers' squad. Head Coach E. O Steihm, who relinquishes his place with Nebraska to go to Indiana In-diana the first of September announced announc-ed this evening he would have the contract between Rutherford and the Indiana school annulled. Stelhm's action Is the result of criticism crit-icism aroused because charges that ho had been guilty of tampering with Nebraska men In the interest of Indiana. In-diana. He denies this charge, saying Rutherford's acceptance of the Indiana Indi-ana proffer was voluntary, but declared declar-ed he would reloase the Nebraska star from any obligation. Rutherford will be tendered the assistant as-sistant Nebraska coachship at a salary sal-ary of S2500 a year. The Nebraska athletic board is said to have made the selection of a head coach, but his identity will not be disclosed dis-closed until ho announces the acceptance accept-ance of the position. |
